Hi friends, ????????

One of the superpowers I wanted to cultivate in life is to master the typing speed game. Though I started using computer in early 2000s, I never tried anything special to improve my typing speed. Even though my typing speed and accuracy was mediocre, I was the first one my teachers approaches when they have some works related to typing on computers. After 17 years, I think this is the time to do something about it to improve the typing speed and be a 100-wpm typing superhero.

So, through this article, I would like to announce one of the goals of 2021 (though its February), to type 100wpm, why and how I am plaining to achieve it.

????Goal: To achieve a typing speed of 100 wpm by 31^st December 2021.

????????‍????Where I stand at present: Currently I have a typing speed of 45 wpm (5^th February 2021) as per the test taken on the first website which came up on the Google when searched for typing speed.

⚡️Why I think good typing speed is import?

1. My life was always and will be around computer (I am pretty sure about it, no matter what I do in the future). Keyboard is the primary and most important input unit of it. So, having a typing speed equal to the thinking speed can improve my productivity and workflow to a great extent.
2. It is a skill that I can show off to friends as most will only have a speed around 40 wpm.
3. This is a concept I came across very recently. Its about the writing something. According to this concept, if you have something to write, say a report or a blog post or a newsletter, at the starting stage, you should get your ideas on to paper or type as quickly as possible without considering the quality of it. Quality can be improved at a later stage proof reading stage. People are so concerned about the quality and they often find it hard to start. So, at the starting stage all we have to aim is to do the brain dumb as quickly as possible. Initial brain dumb process of the writing can be more creative and time saving with high speed and accurate typing skills.

????How am I planning to achieve it?

According to famous book, ‘Atomic Habits‘ by James Clear, by improving 1% daily, we improve 37.78% in 365 days. He preaches to start by small steps and improve gradually rather than doing great things at the start.

1. Learning the common keyboard shortcuts.
2. Unlearn the wrong typing method I was following for the past 17 years.
3. Focus of touch typing (A fast typing method in which each of the ten fingers are assigned to each of keys).

5. Document the journey, share it on blog once in a month and daily on Instagram.
6. Encourage, collaborate the journey with like-minded people whom I may meet.
7. Practise 30 min daily, at least 10 min on a busy day.
8. Whey you slip, get back on track quickly.
